The Committe of NBO offer their full support to Inter Faith Week in promoting the importance of religious literacy.
Across religious traditions we share the aspiration for us to all to become caring and compassionate human beings. We also share the importance if we are to act with compassion, of opening our hearts to the different ways in which all beings experience the world.
Making ourselves aware the different faiths and beliefs of people, whether they are religious or not, can bring immense benefit in our intention to act with full regard to the lives of others. Religious literacy, whether it is taught formally in our education systems, or simply shared amongst diverse groups of friends living and working together, is a cornerstone for building a compassionate and caring society.
